The days of illegal developers on Wetlands and other fragile ecosystems are numbered
The Ministry of Lands is currently analyzing and taking an audit of previous allocation of land to private developers which have led to destruction of fragile environment around water bodies, river courses, wetlands and riparian reserves with the view of taking corrective measures, in consultation with other stakeholders. Though the initial action is within and around Nairobi, the exercise will be extended to cover the whole Country in due course.
The Ministry of Lands advise Kenyans, both in rural and urban areas to exercise civic responsibility and obtain necessary development permission and approvals before they embark on any physical development in their land. Moreover, the public is further cautioned from seeking any ownership rights on wetlands, riparian reserves and other fragile ecosystems.
